We treat a good number of patients with back issues in our Clarksdale, Hernando, & Olive Branch office, and Dr. Kasprack has noticed that quite a few cases of back pain start in the sacroiliac (SI) joint. Research has revealed that around 25% of all back pain originates in the SI joint, and now new research corroborates what we have noticed in our clinic: chiropractic is an effective approach to treating this pain.
In the study published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, thirty-two women who suffered from sacroiliac joint dysfunction were separated into two groups and asked to take part in one of two treatment therapies. The first group went through a chiropractic adjustment only at the sacroiliac joint, and the other group had an adjustment to the sacroiliac joint as well as the lumbar spine.
Scientists found greater improvements in both pain and movement immediately after treatment, two days post-treatment, and 30 days after for the individuals who underwent high-velocity low-amplitude manipulation to both the sacroiliac joint and the lumbar spine. This shows that chiropractic manipulation applied to these two areas offers both short term and long term results for sacroiliac joint pain sufferers even with only a single treatment session.
Therefore, if you are dealing with sacroiliac joint discomfort, or have back and leg discomfort and want to know if your sacroiliac joint is the cause, a consultation at our Clarksdale, Hernando, & Olive Branch office may be the first and best step towards feeling better.
